Birkenstock Boston

Today, we have the Birkenstock Boston’s in Antique White. I’ve owned these for about a year and I love them.

FIT

I typically wear a shoe size of 10.5 in US Mens and I got a size 42 Euro for these. The Boston’s I got are the Regular footbed, NOT the Soft footbed. I wear a size 43 in the soft footbed and a 42 in the Regular. If you feel like you can’t get your sizing right, try with both soft and regular to nail sizing down because one will fit you better. I buckled the strap in the tights setting for the best fit and I’ll most likely have to make my own holes when they inevitably stretch out in the future.

COMFORT

My first pair of Birkenstocks were the soft footbed and I thought they were pretty comfortable, then I tried the regular footbed.. and now I feel like I got the full Birkenstock experience that people rave about. Although the Regulars weren’t quite as comfortable right off the bat, they are well worth the wait to break in. These feel like they were made exactly for my feet and it really didn’t take that long.

STYLE

I know some people don’t like the look of these and I can understand that (although, if you tried them, I bet you’d change your mind). I actually love them and especially love these Antique Whites. The most common color way for Bostons are Taupe (which are super nice imo), but I wanted to be a little different. I love that these were a neutral color that I could wear with anything, that they were suede, and that they had monochrome buckle that blends in with the clog. I wear these around once a week and really haven’t tried very hard to keep them clean. I do have a suede eraser thing (works okay) that I’ve used a few times, but that’s about it.

PROS

  • Neutral color – can go with anything
  • I love Birkenstocks that have a mono buckle (when the buckle is the same color as the sandal/clog)
  • Comfortable
  • Easy to slide on
  • Look great

CONS

  • Can be considered ugly/funky looking to some
  • Can sometimes feel like they’re about to slide off your feet
  • The suede can get dirty pretty easily
  • Expensive
  • Sometimes the suede can get soft and bend down making it harder to slide your foot in when compared to the structure of leather/nubuck.
